Saturday headliners include Rebellion favourites Cock Sparrer who will be performing the final gig ahead of their 50th Anniversary shows on the 9 & 10th September at The Roundhouse, London (Empress Ballroom), The Exploited (Club Casbah), Sex Gang Children (Pavilion) will be bringing their 2021 Oligarth album to Rebellion, Both JOHN, (After Dark), Bob Vylan (After Dark) have recent albums I was fortunate to catch JOHN perform tracks from their Nocturnal Manoeuvres album earlier this year – do not fail to see this set, similarly with Bob Vylan who has recently released the stunning The Price Of Life album, and TV Smith & Friends (Almost Acoustic).Ĭlosing the festival on the Sunday night will be, Stiff Little Fingers (Empress Ballroom), Theatre Of Hate (Club Casbah) who will be appearing ahead of heading off on an extensive US tour supporting The Mission, The Membranes (Pavilion) who are currently writing new material to follow up the What Nature Gives album, and have been confirmed to support The Stranglers on their September/October European tour, whilst TV Smith will be making a solo appearance (Almost Acoustic) – just how many sets is Tim Smith playing this year? The After Dark & RIS (Rebellion Introducing Stage) have also been moved to the much larger Arena stage. Heavy Lungs released the Measure EP in late 2019, hopefully they will showcase some new material (After Dark), whilst the Skids having released the acoustic Peaceful Times album in 2019 are ready for their set (Almost Acoustic). Please note that the Almost Acoustic stage has been moved upstairs to the much larger Spanish Ballroom.įriday night headliners include Sham 69 (Empress Ballroom), Steve Ignorant performing a Crass set (Club Casbah) – those of you who saw this during his UK tour will know just how good this set is, The Lovely Eggs (Pavilion) who have just completed a sell out tour of the UK will be performing tracks from their best selling I Am Moron album. Bar Stool Preachers (Club Casbah) have been touring material from their as now untitled album #3, whilst Anti Flag Acoustic will close the Almost Acoustic stage. The Thursday night closes with Circle Jerks (Empress Ballroom) who had to delay the 40th Anniversary shows marking the release of their debut album Group Sex due to the pandemic, it will be good to see them perform material from the album on the main stage. The Rebellion Festival is spread across 6 stages, each packed with a huge variety of artists, the festival organisers have secured some major names to ensure each stage closes on a high. An R-Fest Ticket will restrict access to R-Fest only. We will look at both events, but for clarity either a Full Weekend Rebellion Festival Ticket or a Full Rebellion Festival Day Ticket will allow access to both Rebellion and R-Fest. Rebellion Radio will also return for 2022, broadcasting podcasts from midnight every night of the festivals including interviews, requests and any other Rebellion shenanigans! The other major change for 2022 is R-Fest a 15,000 capacity linked festival taking place approx 250 metres away right on Blackpool seafront, situated on the ‘Comedy Carpet’. In addition to this the venue now has a brand new purpose built Conference & Exhibition Centre next door (which will also be home to the very popular Punk Art exhibition) which Rebellion will be using for the Literary Stages. The Winter Gardens is an impressive 1878 Grade 2 listed building with several venues for shows and events, plus bars, a restaurant and cafe. Running from Thursday 4th – Sunday 7th August at the festivals now traditional home of the 10,000 capacity Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Lancashire.
